Camp For All seeks an enthusiastic Volunteer Supervisor to join the team at 6301 Rehburg Road, Burton, Texas. Volunteers are a vital component at Camp, helping us provide a barrier-free camping experience to nearly 11,000 children and adults in 2019. Last year, 877 volunteers provided nearly 6,000 volunteer hours – all possible, thanks to the Volunteer Supervisor!

The person in this position will recruit and manage volunteers, guide them through the background check and vetting process, and provide a welcoming presence when they arrive to lend a hand.

Essential Duties

  • Match individuals and groups interested in volunteering with meaningful and impactful opportunities at Camp For All and Camp For All 2U (see descriptions below)
  • Manage all facets of the volunteer process including recruitment, screening, training, service and appreciation
    • Point of contact for volunteers prior to and during volunteer shifts via phone, email and in-person meeting
    • Collect and coordinate volunteer background checks and online paperwork
    • With Camp leadership and staff, prioritize and organize tasks and needs
    • With the Development Director, develop and execute creative ways to recognize and show appreciation for volunteers, including an annual event
    • Provide an onsite contact point during volunteer shifts


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years of nonprofit experience preferred
  • Knowledge of and connections in the Washington County/Brenham area a plus
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of volunteers and staff
  • Hold a valid Texas driver’s license and have reliable transportation
  • Note: This position works Monday-Friday in the summer (June-mid-August) and Tuesday-Saturday the remainder of the year
  • As described above, there will be evening and weekend commitments that are an important and required component of this position.

About Camp For All

Camp For All was designed with no barriers for children and adults with special needs to experience the thrill of camping and nature, just like their able-bodied peers. All of the programming is “universal,” meaning that the activities can be accomplished regardless of the campers’ challenges, be it mobility, emotional or learning issues. Camp For All provides an environment that is free of the barriers in the everyday world, such as 8-foot wide sidewalks to maximize mobility in wheelchairs, sloping entrance into the pool with a special lift, ramps, and myriad special saddles to aid horseback riders, low beds with wide space in cabins and large accessible showers and toilet areas. This culture of inclusion is underscored throughout the campsite and is truly built to “level the playing field” for all. Camp For All is the only recreational facility that accommodates the special needs community in this way.

Camp For All 2 U

This award-winning outreach program provides our amazing camp experiences, indoors and in town, for pediatric patients who cannot leave the hospital and come to camp and campers who do come to camp but need more “can do” spirit! Canoeing, archery, s’mores, barnyard animals, you name it, it’s happening! Serving multiple hospitals in both Houston and Austin, the impact on the campers is huge and the volunteers love it.

Camp Friends

Camp Friends are Brenham and Washington County-based volunteers who give their time to raise awareness and raise funds for Camp For All. They choose their level of involvement — including volunteering at camp, office support, hosting cultivation events or chairing events in the greater Camp area.

  • Develop productive relationships with volunteers, donors and staff and the greater Brenham/Washington County community
  • Conduct follow-up surveys to access volunteer satisfaction
  • With the Director of Development, create a plan for driving donations from volunteer base
  • Work with all departments to understand and staff various volunteer needs
  • Create and maintain job descriptions and written procedures for key volunteer positions
  • Provide content to Manager, Marketing for quarterly “Volunteer View” e-newsletter and social media posts
  • Track volunteer hours in Raiser’s Edge and undertake any other administrative duties related to volunteers
  • Attend monthly evening meetings of the Camp For All Friends (description below)
  • Attend Camp For All events as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
